Shawn began his career in 1992 while still in high school, working in the automotive oil change industry. By the age of 20, he had already purchased his own automotive quick-lube location. Over the following years, he expanded his business to include multiple service facilities between Dallas and Texarkana, Texas. His success earned him two "Top 20 Fastest Growing Quicklube Chains in the United States" awards from the Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA). At just 29, Shawn was the youngest recipient of this prestigious award, and his innovative customer service techniques were featured in industry magazines.

While homeschooling his children, Shawn transitioned into a career in marketing and sales. Over the next two years, he excelled in selling and marketing a variety of products and services, including internal banking solutions using vested insurance platforms. His success in sales was highlighted when he broke the "First Year Career Agent" sales record at American United Life, earning the top spot in his first year with OneAmerica Insurance Company. Shawn not only achieved success in insurance sales but also trained others, helping them thrive in their own respective industries. He developed online training courses for various other sectors and held online classes that provided tips and strategies for brick-and-mortar businesses, online ventures, and even for multi-level marketing individuals.

Continuing to homeschool his children with the help of his wife, Shawn ventured into the stock market. He founded Robotic Returns, a company offering unique third-party robotic stock trading technologies. As President of the company, he introduced this advanced technology to the public by traveling across the country holding private conferences about the technology, further expanding his expertise in marketing and technology.

Shawn then entered the credit card merchant processing industry, co-founding one of the nation’s largest recruiting service companies in this field. His company, Merchant Careers, quickly rose to the top, becoming the #1 ranked merchant services recruiting companies in the U.S. within a few short months. Shawn and his team trained thousands of new door-to-door sales professionals, equipping them with the skills needed to successfully offer merchant processing services to small businesses nationwide. In 2015, Shawn also co-owned a new merchant processing ISO company called First Direct Financial. Through his efforts, his team grew to 2,400 salespeople, making it one of the largest networks of credit card merchant sales organizations in the U.S. in just 13 months.

With a deep passion for Christ-like faith, people, and technology, Shawn began working in the emerging field of BLE Bluetooth beacons in late 2016. Recognizing that this technology was largely limited to large corporations, Shawn sought to make it accessible to small and medium-sized businesses. He developed a user-friendly platform for digital Bluetooth signal notification advertising, enabling local businesses to reach potential customers through mobile devices. In 2017, Shawn and his business partners in Sulphur Springs, Texas, founded Trinity Proximity Inc, a faith-based software development organization focused on success in the growing tech industry. The company has since developed several technology products for 38 communities across the U.S., including their company owned flagship product called neighbZ, a Christian social media platform designed to spread the Gospel worldwide. The company owned product, neighbZ launched in late 2024 under the motto "Love Thy Neighbor | Support Thy Neighbor".
